Hotel Santos is placed in a building of the XVIII century and it has a unique characteristic – the town’s wall which is part of the building’s interior and which divides the house itself – symbol of the town’s expansion beyond the established limits.

This historical building had several uses: the Town Hall (“Paços do Concelho”) which was placed there years ago until the day when the building was sold in public to José António dos Santos; then he transformed it in the then called “Hotel Santos”, a famous hotel with pleasant and luxurious bedrooms. At that time there couldn’t be a better place to rest and relax.

Three generations passed and Manuel Relvas appeared, transforming the famous Hotel into an outstanding house, different from all the others that existed at that time. It was, then, called “Pensão Santos”.

By the end of the XX century, Alberto Gonçalves became its owner and completely reconstructed the building. He discovered the “one of a kind” characteristic of the house, a real historic treasure - the town wall – which was fully covered by concrete and, because of that, completely forgotten.

Today, by visiting us, you will feel and find out all the history that surrounds this building, always enveloped by the comfort and modernity only achieved by the XXI century.
